Over the past few weeks, security experts have warned Mac users of a new virus making its rounds called the “Flashback trojan“. Flashback is allegedly on over 600,000 Macs, which is roughly 1-percent of the 45 million out there. Flashback exploits a pair of vulnerabilities in older versions of Java. Apple may have patched it, but it is still out there and running on many machines.
How do you know if you are infected? F-Secure has a few Terminal commands to check your machine. For the many who are not adept at keeping their Java updates fresh, terminal commands are going to be even more foreign. The app runs the same checks as you would in Terminal, but automates it for you.
If you have been following us, we informed you that the next-generation iPad may include an A5X dual core chip instead of an A6 quad-core. The post we made included the photo of the iPad 3 logic board that showcased the A5X processor. Here it is again for those of you who missed that post. Continued after the break!
The A4 chip of the original iPad was called S5L8930X, while the A5 chip of the iPad 2 was called S5L8940X, and the A5X chip is named as S5L8945X. If we compare the labeling between A4 and A5, the jump was of 10, while it is only 5 between A5 and A5X. This would mean a half-way upgrade, meaning a chip with improved graphics but still a dual-core processor.
A few hours ago, we posted about a leaked image related to the upcoming iPad 3 indicating tapered edges and an 8-megapixel camera. Today, we have more news for you. WeiPhone, a Chinese site, has a forum post with an image which shows an “A5X” system-on-a-chip on the iPad 3′s logic board. All the rumors till now have indicated towards an A6 quad-core processor but if assumption comes true, the fruit company would offer an upgraded package labelled with the “A5X” name. Details after the slide!
Apple iPad 3 rumors are getting crazy and the release date just might be March 29, 2012, as information is leaked about an A6 quad-core chip.
There’s no doubt that the iPad 3 will have a new shell and casing and the release could also introduce Retina Display, which means sharper pictures and vivid colors.
Could it also have a mobile phone? Several rumors indicate a possible mobile phone built right inside the tablet itself. However, this one might not be happening because it would have an impact on iPhone sales.
The new Apple tablet won’t be as fast as we originally thought. Does it matter all that much? It depends on how you plan to use the device.
