Unlike the apparent panic displayed by Apple in the run-up to the original iOS 5 release, which saw an near-unprecedented number of betas seeded to members of the fruit company’s developer program, there have been comparatively few reports of what is to be expected with its first major revision – iOS 5.1.
Apple has seeded iOS 5.1 for all iPhone, iPad 2, iPad, and iPod touch users who are enrolled in the iOS developer center. The software update is only seeded for developers. iOS 5.1 is available for iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad 2, iPad, and iPod touch 4G, 3G.
Apple has just released iOS 5.0.1 to the public, bringing fixes for battery life issues introduced with iOS 5. The release also brings several other enhancements including multitasking gestures for the original iPad.

iOS 4.2 is destined to bring all iOS 4 features to the iPad in November this year when iOS will become a universal firmware for all iDevices (iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch). During the last musical even, Steve Jobs mentioned the following features of iOS 4.2 for iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch:
The benchmark of the action-adventure games on next-gen consoles lands for the first time on your iPhone and iPod Touch.
**IGN: “Assassin’s Creed looks fantastic. This is a console game for your iPhone that sacrifices very little.”
**MacWorld: “One of the most ambitious titles for the iPhone yet. The game takes several hours to complete (think 6-10+) and is therefore one of the most lengthy (and challenging) iPhone games I’ve played.”
**Pocket Gamer Silver Award: “Honed from an earlier release, this much improved version cuts through control problems with impressive, varied gameplay for a rousing and wholly worthwhile adventure.”
